Our head office is based in central Manchester and is the home to many of our central functions. Due to continued business growth, we are delighted to be recruiting for a Tax Accountant to join our brilliant Finance team.

Reporting to the Tax Manager, this role is responsible for the tax accounting and administration for the BES Group.

You’ll also communicate confidently and effectively as you will be working with a variety of amazing people from across our business.

You will be ATT, AAT (or equivalent) qualified or part-qualified and offer tax accounting experience, ideally gained within an in-house tax or finance team. You will have strong Excel skills, as well as being adept at financial systems and processes. As a proficient and experienced finance professional who isn't afraid of a challenge, you’ll enjoy our changing environment as we continue to grow at an impressive pace!

What will I be doing?

No two days are the same at BES Group. As a Tax Accountant reporting to the Tax Manager, you’ll work closely with the Group Financial Controller, the Group Finance Manager and wider Finance team and will proactively manage all taxation administration queries. The scope of this role will grow over time as you develop your skills and experience but some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring compliance with VAT return deadlines and preparing VAT returns for the BES Group of companies
  • Preparing preliminary corporation tax computations for annual financial reporting purposes
  • Coordinating the annual corporation tax compliance cycle, liaising with external advisors and internal finance teams
  • Providing employment tax support to the Payroll / HR teams, including coordination of annual employment tax returns
  • Maintaining the Group’s tax database and dealing with administrative matters for indirect tax, corporation tax and employment tax as required
  • Preparing payment requests for indirect tax, corporation tax and employment tax
  • Providing support for the annual external audit process
  • Assisting with forecasting for all tax aspects in terms of liabilities and cash flows
  • Supporting the Tax Manager in developing the Tax Control Framework including testing and process improvements
  • Providing support for ad-hoc tax issues as and when required

What experience do I need?

You will be a tax accounting professional with accounting experience gained from working within a Finance department in a similar role. We are open to different levels of experience and backgrounds but to work for us you must have the right attitude, aptitude and appetite for what we do; Keeping Britain Safe. You’ll also:  

  • Hold an ATT or AAT (or equivalent tax accounting qualification) to qualified or part-qualified level
  • Offer previous tax accounting experience (experience gained within an in-house tax or finance team is an advantage)
  • Ability and experience of dealing effectively with tax related queries and data requests from all levels of employees and Management.
  • Strong IT skills and experience working with finance software and systems
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Possess strong numeracy and analytical skills, with the desire to learn new technical skills
  • Expert attention to detail and enthusiasm to challenge and improve processes
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to build strong internal relationships with finance and non-finance colleagues
  • Strong organisation skills with the ability to anticipate and coordinate deliverables for multiple deadlines
  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ideally, you will also:

  • Have experience of using Microsoft Dynamics 365 finance system (desired)
